This is why you shouldn’t just be looking at cheap web hosting – you may save more on expenses but you’ll be losing out in thousands of missed sales opportunities.
If you’re looking for a quick recommendation on the fastest web hosting brand, we’d go with SiteGround. We host Bitcatcha.com with them and our server speed comparison shows that our test site performs excellent with a worldwide average of only 148 ms, much lower than Google’s recommended 200 ms. Read our full review on SiteGround.
Here’s a few more things you should know about before we get to the details:
We’ve took 6 of the hottest web hosting brands and painstakingly tested each one of their server speeds, broke down their features, researched their prices and documented everything we found so you can easily decide for yourself the best web hosting for your business.
Note that all of the web hosts that appear here are superb and are ranked A+, so you basically can’t go wrong with any of them. We’ve ranked them according to our preference, but feel free to make your own choices!
GrowBig
148 ms
$5.95/mo
We’ve made it clear before that we absolutely LOVE SiteGround. In fact, we made the switch from Inmotion Hosting to SiteGround a year ago and we never looked back! They’re officially WordPress endorsed (it’s kind of a big deal, guys!), and that kind of recognition is only given out to web hosts that meet WordPress’s lofty criteria.
Our preferred package is their entry level GrowBig Plan; super affordable at only $5.95 per month but comes packed with benefits and features. You get to enjoy priority support, SuperCacher, Automatic Daily Backups and Free restores.
Speed wise, SiteGround is ranked A+ with a worldwide average of 148 ms, comparable to premium hosts like Liquid Web at only a fraction of the price.

They’ve got 5 data centers spread out across 3 regions, so you can pick one that’s closest to your target customers to optimize their server speeds.
Cloudflare activation is integrated into the system, so if you want even faster speeds, no problem – you can do so with a click of a button.
We actually did a server speed test for SiteGround Cloud hosting as well, with excellent results. If that’s what you’re looking for, hop on over to check out our in-depth SiteGround review!
Power Plan
149 ms
$4.49/mo
Our second choice of fast web hosting is none other than Inmotion Hosting. Before we fell in love with SiteGround, we hosted Bitcatcha.com with Inmotion for many years, and we’re actually still pretty happy with them. If SiteGround didn’t exist, we’d probably host with Inmotion Hosting.
With Inmotion, you get to choose from 2 data centers – US East & US West. This means is that customers browsing from America will get to enjoy super-fast speeds, but users from Asia might experience slowdowns. The keyword here is “might” because our test results show otherwise, check it out:
US (W) | US (E) | London | Singapore |
---|---|---|---|
64 ms | 26 ms | 90 ms | 250 ms |
Sao Paulo | Bangalore | Sydney | Japan |
---|---|---|---|
129 ms | 225 ms | 230 ms | 180 ms |
Average Speed: 149.3 ms – See full result
Somehow, they’ve managed to score pretty well, with the slowest response time pinged from Singapore, at a pretty decent 250 ms! Not bad at all considering the Singapore’s distance to the data centers in USA.
Overall, Inmotion’s worldwide average is a very strong 149.3 ms, meaning that your site should load up pretty quickly for users around the globe.
Personally, if we’re specifically targeting US customers, then our primary web hosting choice would be Inmotion, for their superb speed in USA and an excellent support team that’ll go out of their way to fix your issues!
Baby Cloud
144 ms
$7.95/mo
HostGator is one of the big boys of web hosting, and is probably one of the more well-known web hosts out there.
Speedwise, everyone expects HostGator’s Cloud hosting service to be good, and boy did they deliver; their response times are consistently fast worldwide, which is impressive because their data centers are located in America. The worse ping times they received is from BIndia, and that’s at 260 ms – pretty respectable in our books!
US (W) | US (E) | London | Singapore |

In fact, HostGator actually tested the best out of all the hosts we’ve listed down, with a worldwide average of 144 ms. This is without Cloudflare on, we can only imagine how incredibly fast they’d be if we turned it on.
Our HostGator Cloud test site also recorded an uptime of 100%! The only problems you might have with them (based on other users’ experience) is that their support might not be so great.
We didn’t encounter any issues that required the attention of their support team so we can’t give you a first hand experience, but we CAN tell you that support staff are always changing, so they might have improved their service already.
Turbo
163 ms
$10.28/mo
Those in the know are aware that A2 Hosting takes their speed very seriously. They’ve invested a lot to make their servers speedy and fast, and they’ve got response time to show it.
If you’ve never heard of their Turbo Web Hosting Servers, they’re specially tweaked to give us massive speed boosts. When combined with their Turbo Cache, the servers can load sites up to 20 times quicker than standard servers.
Their Optimized Applications (Drupal, Joomla, WordPress, Magento, Opencart, etc) are all customized to run more effectively, which all adds up to reduce loading time.
To handle client requests all over the globe, A2 Hosting has set up 4 data centers – 2 in the US, 1 in Amsterdam and 1 in Singapore) so that we can pick the best server location to suit our needs.
Check out our server speed tests:
The first test we ran, we used a test site hosted on A2’s Turbo Plan, with the data center located in the US. The results were great with a wholesome worldwide average of 162.75ms, with the slowest being Sao Paolo at a very respectable 257ms.
US (W) | US (E) | London | Singapore |
---|---|---|---|
64 ms | 27 ms | 209 ms | 257 ms |
Sao Paulo | Bangalore | Sydney | Japan |
---|---|---|---|
158 ms | 223 ms | 218 ms | 146 ms |
Turbo Plan Average Speed: 162.8 ms
Next, we tried the Swift plan with the server hosted in Singapore. The worldwide average tested slightly slower at 176 ms, but pings from Sao Paulo and Sydney didn’t do too well coming it at above 300ms.
US (W) | US (E) | London | Singapore |
---|---|---|---|
177 ms | 216 ms | 183 ms | 8 ms |
Sao Paulo | Bangalore | Sydney | Japan |
---|---|---|---|
354 ms | 68 ms | 329 ms | 74 ms |
Swift Plan Average Speed: 176.1 ms – See full result
So if you want to host with A2, make sure you go with the Turbo plan; it’s slightly more costly, but at least you’ll get what you pay for!

Next on our list of fastest web hosts is Kinsta Managed WordPress Hosting. Built using Google’s very own cloud platform, Kinsta leverages on Google’s cutting edge tech and 15 data centers, making them the FASTEST webhost we’ve encountered so far.

Their speeds blew us away with them consistently scoring below 3 ms, with the worse performing one at a crazy 127 ms. Their worst performance is better than most web hosts’ best results!
They scored a worldwide average of 36.4 ms, which prompted us to say that Kinsta (and KeyCDN) is truly the future of web hosting.
The only thing that stopped us from ranking them any higher is their hefty price tag with their entry level plans starting $30 per month.

Last but definitely not least on our list, we’ve got Liquid Web, the oldest bad boy around the block. Formed way before the inception of Google, Liquid Web knows every trick in the book to improve their speeds, and they’ve incorporated all of their experience and speedhacks into their web hosting services.
They cover a full range of hosting services, but we’ll be covering their Managed WordPress services here.
Like any premium web host, Liquid Web offers unlimited pageviews across all of their Managed WordPress plans, so you won’t have to worry about service interruptions no matter the traffic.
The tools they use to optimize data delivery is on par with the rest, utilizing cutting edge tech in their infrastructure to reduce loading times.

They’ve got 3 data centers located across USA (US East, US West, US Central). This makes it ideal to host your sites with them if your main customers are American. Pings from other countries didn’t do too shabbily either, with 148 ms in Japan and 243 ms in Singapore. Bangalore didn’t respond well though, so keep that in mind if you’re targeting India.
We were a little uncomfortable with their prices (starting at $69 per month) but with support staff that are 600 strong, a worldwide average of 159 ms, and professional Managed WordPress Hosting services, Liquid Web is definitely deserves their spot on this list.
At Bitcatcha.com, we hold very high standards against web hosts when it comes comes to server speed and value. There are a few stand out brands out there that didn’t quite make it into our top 6, but we feel that they’re awesome enough to warrant a mention!
Basic
189 ms
$5.45/mo
One of the more prominent brands out there, Bluehost has a good 15 years of experience under their belt as a web host.
Just like SiteGround, they’re recommended by WordPress for their dedication to their infrastructure and excellent support team (750 strong, all trained and ready to serve 24/7).
Speedwise, they’re pretty good too! Not ranked A+ like our ranked web hosts above, but they’re still ranked a solid A with a worldwide average of 188 ms.
US (W) | US (E) | London | Singapore |
---|---|---|---|
39 ms | 26 ms | 339 ms | 245 ms |

Average Speed: 188.6 ms – See full result
The pings from US did very well at sub 40 ms each but results from countries further away were a little slower, dipping down to 339 ms in London. You’ve gotta make sure to pick the data center closest to your target customers as it seems that they don’t do so great the further away requests are from the servers. They’ve got data centers in India, China, London and America, so there’s plenty of options for you to choose from!
At only $5.45 per month, we still think that Bluehost kicks ass and gives us great value!
EcoSiteStarter

$5.95/mo
They’ve got everything that that makes a premium web host.
Solid reliable data centers, strong support team, cutting edge infrastructure, Git compatibility, and CloudFlare integration, that works.
But what makes them special is not how they make things load faster (that’s already a given) it’s what they do with the company. GreenGeeks gives back to the planet by investing 3 times of every amp they use into renewable energy!
You will literally be making the world a greener place when you host your website with GreenGeeks.
Speedwise, they are not as speedy as our top 6, but they are still considered FAST!

At a worldwide average of 190ms, they are still ranked A, faster than Google’s recommended response time. However, their data centers are based only in the US, Canada and Amsterdam, so if you’re targeting Asia, you might not be able to experience them at their optimum speed.
GreenGeeks EcoSiteStarter plan starts at only $5.95 per month, but remember that you’re not the only one benefiting from their service – you’re doing the planet a favour just by hosting with GreenGeeks!
If we had to just stick with one web hosting brand for the rest of our lives, we’d most definitely go with SiteGround. All the brands featured in this article are awesome, with top tier service and tech, but SiteGround takes the cake with the fastest shared hosting we’ve seen, comparable to other brands’ cloud hosting speeds!
They utilize a combination of hardware and software to make them the FASTEST shared host, such as:
