If you stumbled across this page while looking for the best web hosting in India, you’re in luck – we’ve recently checked out a massive list web hosts and we’ve picked 7 of the best performing brands to help you decide on one that’s the best for your business!
At A Glance: Top 3 Web Hosts For India
#1 SiteGround Singapore
Best all rounder with great value for money. Server response speed is insane at 68 ms pinged from Bangalore, and very little latency when pinged from around the world. We feel that it’s the perfect host for small to medium businesses in India.
#2 A2 Hosting
Using their Singapore data center, A2 hosting’s worldwide average speed isn’t as fast as SiteGround but pings from Bangalore returned at a lighting quick 68 ms. We also love their convenient features!
#3 Inmotion Hosting
They might not be the fastest web host in India, but their worldwide average of 153 ms makes Inmotion Hosting one of the best brands to host your website with, especially if you are targeting international customers.
Why should you trust Us?
Here at Bitcatcha.com, we’ve got decades worth of combined experience in networking and IT, and we’ve made it our mission to discover everything there is to know about web hosting.
We place utmost importance in web hosting speed because we know that speed can easily make or break a business. A web host needs to be able to respond to a request faster than you can snap your fingers (it takes 350 milliseconds to snap your fingers – a good webhost needs to be able to respond in less than 200 milliseconds).
Why Speed So Important
When you bring your business online, you should know that you’re in competition with hundreds, possibly thousands of other webstores. You can expect the competition to offer the exact same service or product as you, at the exact same price point or even lower.
What can you do to get an advantage over the competition?
Most people are used to getting their information or websites loaded in less than 2 seconds (which means that the web host needs to respond as quickly as possible. In Google’s standard, 200 ms). Anything longer than that, and people are simply too impatient to wait, navigating to another site which serves their needs and loads up much faster.
Understanding Bitcatcha’s Speed Ratings
Worldwide speed rating
We used our very own server speed checker to test for response times from eight different locations across the world. We then average out those results and benchmark it against Google’s recommended response time of 200 ms. Web hosts will get an A rating if it’s faster than 210 ms.
Speed in India
We measure the response times from Bangalore specifically. This tells us how fast a particular web host is for Indian audiences.
How To Pick A Good Web Host
Most people just want basic web hosting that works. However, there are huge differences in brands and it’s essential to pick a web host that suits your needs in order to have a successful online business.
There are a few things that a web host must have for us to consider them good – here are a few so you’ll know what to look out for.
If your web hosting is slow to respond, it could cost you thousands, maybe millions in lost potential sales. We want a fast web host that can at least match Google’s benchmark of 200ms! At Bitcatcha, we measure server speed and rank the web hosts from A+ to D
2. Speed where your targeted audience is
You need to get web hosting that responds to requests from your targeted audience FAST, so be sure to pick a web host with good response times in your audience’s region. This is why Bitcatcha’s unique server speed checker shows you response times taken from 8 countries around the globe!
We want to strike a nice balance between low prices and good web hosting. Pick a host that can provide you with the features you need at a price you’re comfortable paying!
4. Customer service
Complications can occur when you’re dealing with websites, and it’s nice to have a team of experts dedicated to helping you solve your problems. Be sure to pick a web host that has a good track record in customer support.
5. Uptime guarantee
Your site will be useless to you and your audience if it constantly goes down. We want to look for a web host that can least provide us with a 99.8% uptime guarantee
If your web hosting has poor protection against malware and hacks, you’re you’ll be leaving your website and data wide open for attacks. Pick a host that has a strong track record in security, malware and hacking protection.
It’s always nice to get more than you paid for in terms of features. Some web hosting brands might provide more features but they might not be the fastest. Pick a web host that is nicely balanced between having features you want, speed, and price.
Should You Pick Local Or Go Global?
So your web store or business is focused in India. What are your hosting options?
- You can get a web host that’s based in India
It’s ideal for you and your audience might enjoy faster speeds. You might also prefer the localised customer support team.
- You can get a global brand that covers India
With global brands usually comes better global speeds (perfect if you’re targeting a global audience). You should also experience better security and overall service.
We’ve got a few local and global options in the list below. Ultimately we recommend a global host that covers India for better customer support and facilities.

"Our favourite web host. Well rounded and versatile. We host Bitcatcha with them!"
It’s no secret that SiteGround is our favourite web host. They haven’t been around long (only since 2004), but their service and speed has been absolutely stellar and we’re actually quite biased towards them. As a matter of fact, we like them so much so that this website, Bitcatcha.com is actually hosted with SiteGround!
SiteGround server speed
With the test site’s datacenter located in Singapore, it’s no surprise that response times pinged from Japan, Sydney and Singapore read exceptionally well, below 100 ms. What we were happy about was the response time pinged from Bangalore read 68 ms – that’s super fast for Indian audiences!
Siteground’s worldwide average response time is 148 ms, which gives it a solid A+, the best ranking we have in Bitcatcha.com
SiteGround customer support
We’ve dealt with customer support from all the web hosting brands listed down here today, and SiteGround’s support is the best we’ve come across, hands down.
Live chat responded to us in seconds, were patient enough to skillfully answer any stupid questions we had. They were also very helpful with anything we needed. Tickets was resolved quickly and skillfully, without frustrating us in any way at all.
SiteGround really set the bar for customer support, making the other web hosts look bad in comparison!
Our thoughts on SiteGround
One advantage (out of so many) that SiteGround has over the other web hosts is their inclusion of free SSL for their users. Starting from July 2018, Chrome (the world’s most popular browser) will start marking all non ssl sites as ‘not secure’, and that’ll leave your customers feeling a little unsure about your brand. In a world where the competition is so tough, you wouldn’t want any drop in confidence of your service.
So, we think that SiteGround with a Singapore based datacenter is solid, with awesome global speeds and even better results in India! Pair that with their excellent customer support team, and you get a host that’s really awesome in all aspects.
A definite yes in our books! Do check out our full SiteGround review for all things you need to know about the host.

"A reliable web host with fast results, especially their Turbo plan."
This American web hosting company is quite well known for their superb Turbo servers and their awesome A2 Optimization feature. (Full details at our in-depth A2 Hosting review)
While they’re not the fastest web host around, they still managed to get A+ in our server speed tests.
A2 Hosting server speed
Using their Singaporean data center, pings from Singapore came in super quick at 8 ms, 74 ms for Japan while Bangalore scored a very respectable 68 ms. The response times for the rest of the world dipped into the hundreds, they’re still faster than your average web host with a worldwide average of a 176 ms.
A2 Hosting customer support
Now this is where we have a slight problem with A2 hosting – their live chat Gurus are actually good at what they do. It’s just that they’re sometime a little difficult to reach. Once we got through to a Guru though, they managed to effortlessly solve our problems!
Our thoughts on A2
Like SiteGround, A2 Hosting also offers free SSL for their customers, a feature that is easily implemented but isn’t done yet by most web hosts. Customer support can be improved, but once you connect to them, they’re a solid web host with excellent features!

"Great worldwide coverage with world-class support"
We personally feel that Inmotion Hosting is one of the more underrated web hosting gems out there. Their servers are fast, they’ve got excellent features and their customer service is fantastic. As a matter of fact, Bitcatcha.com used to host with Inmotion before switching to SiteGround (We are still hosting a few other websites with Inmotion)!
Inmotion Hosting server speed
Inmotion Hosting only has datacenters in America, which explains their sub 60 ms speeds in US West and US East. They didn’t do too bad either in the rest of the world – 101 ms in Japan, 157 ms in Sydney, 141 ms in London, 176 ms in Sao Paolo and 180 ms in Singapore. Unfortunately, they didn’t do too well in Bangalore, at 320 ms.
Their worldwide average is 140.9 ms, which earns them an A+ ranking.
Inmotion’s customer support
As expected, Inmotion Hosting’s customer support team is excellent. They know what they’re doing and they’re efficient, never leaving us waiting for long. Live chat sessions are connected in minutes and tickets are resolved without much hassle.
Our thoughts on Inmotion Hosting
If you’re targeting an international audience, then Inmotion Hosting is perfect – if you’re only aiming to appeal to local Indian customers, then you might want to consider other hosts.

"Very fast, but a little expensive. Customer service can be improved."
We initially wanted to list HostGator India for this list, but after a few testings, reading up on a few horror stories (Srikar Srinivasula has some interesting things to say about HostGator India over here) and experiencing poor customer service from them, we decided to list HostGator Cloud instead.
HostGator is a household name in the world of web hosting, but how do they hold up against the competition? We put their cloud hosting service to the test, and here’s what we discovered:
HostGator Cloud server speed
HostGator’s Cloud service is FAST. With datacenters located in America, it’s no surprise that pings from US East came in blazing quick at 29 ms, while US West timed 37 ms. HostGator Cloud also did pretty fast in Asia, with 153 ms from Japan and 207 ms from Singapore. London’s pings were pretty impressive also at 113 ms, as with Sao Paulo at 141 ms. The slowest is ping is from Bangalore at 263 ms, but It’s still bearable.
With a worldwide average of 144 ms, HostGator Cloud is the FASTEST A+ ranked web host we’ve tested in this list so far.
They seem to be a good all-rounder, especially if you’re looking to serve customers internationally.
HostGator Cloud’s customer service
For a reputable web host, HostGator’s customer service can be a little sketchy. If you’re already a paying customer, you’ll be alright – but if you’re just making enquiries regarding their plans, services or technical features, you’re going to get handed over to the junior staff, and most of them don’t know enough to be helpful.
Our thoughts on HostGator Cloud
We think that HostGator Cloud is definitely fast, but we personally would prefer to go with SiteGround – Cheaper rates with stellar support. However, if you do decide to go with HostGator Cloud, you won’t have to worry – they’re an excellent web host.
Just don’t expect VIP treatment if you’re just making enquiries.

"Pretty decent if you do not mind no frills web hosting"
Our experience with GoDaddy India was equal parts “cool!” and “meh!”. For each thing that made us happy, they managed to create an equivalent problem that pissed us off. Let’s have a look at what we’re dealing with.
GoDaddy India server speed
One of the cool things we liked about GoDaddy India is their speed – They’re actually pretty fast!
Although they weren’t very transparent about the location of their datacenter (we clicked “Asia” but it never told us where in Asia the servers are located) it is obvious from the server speed test that it’s based in Singapore, with a whopping 4 ms.
Pings from Japan came next at 72 ms and then interestingly, Bangalore at a very speedy 90 ms. Needless to say, GoDaddy India is perfect if you’re targeting the local Indian demographic.
The web host did pretty well also in other parts of the world, only dropping to 354 ms all the way in Sao Paolo. Overall, GoDaddy India’s worldwide Average is 156 ms, and that’s good enough for an A+ ranking!
GoDaddy India customer support
Well, they’re good at what they do, fairly experienced and you’ll get connected pretty fast. Not as fast as SiteGround, but they get the job done. Nothing to shout about – it just works.
Our thoughts on GoDaddy India
This is where we’ll start ranting a little bit.
GoDaddy would be the perfect web hosting for India if only they had some fine-tuned apps for WordPress, but we got a big bag of nothing. All of the other hosts offer some sort of convenience for users via apps, so to get nothing is a little disappointing.
Another thing we’re quite annoyed about is their UI – they’ve customized their own interface but we feel that they could have done a better job in making it more intuitive.
It took us 30 minutes just to find the right place to retrieve our DNS correctly, and navigating through the UI felt a little forced and unnatural.
If you’re looking to implement basic SSL for your websites, you’ll be disappointed to find that GoDaddy India has no free SSL. You can pay for it, but you’ll be bitter knowing that this is something you can easily get with other hosts for free.
Having said all that, we think GoDaddy India is actually good if you’re looking for no frills web hosting targeting India’s consumers at cheap pricing, but if you’re expecting top of the line features or anything extra, it’s best to look at other web hosts.

"Great worldwide coverage, but poor speeds in India. Prices could be better."
Bluehost was formed in 2003 and quickly went on to becoming one the top web hosting brands in the market. They’re especially popular in India, but does their popularity equate quality? Let’s find out.
Bluehost server speed
Bluehost’s data centers are based in the US, and they’ve got pretty good pings (below 200 ms) from most of the world with a worldwide average of 181.1 ms. One problem though – they didn’t do too well in Bangalore, with a 318 ms score.
If we’re prioritizing speed, it looks like Bluehost is better for people that want an international reach. If you’re targeting the local Indian demographic, maybe you’d want to go with another host because 318 ms is just way too slow for our liking.
Bluehost customer support
Getting in touch with Bluehost’s live team is like playing Russian Roulette – if you’re lucky, you’ll score and get an experienced staff that knows what they’re doing and is able to help you. If you’re unlucky, you get the trainee that’s of little to no help at all.
Definitely not our favourite.
Our thoughts on Bluehost
We can’t help but compare Bluehost to SiteGround, as they’re almost at the same price range. You can expect better features with SiteGround but you’ll pay a slightly lower price with Bluehost, so I guess it boils down to priorities and preferences.
Bluehost is actually a super popular choice among many bloggers and affiliate marketers, but if you’re prioritizing speed, you might want to consider where your audience location is first before committing.

"Fast speeds in India at low prices.
BigRock! The myth, the brand, the legend!
We’ve heard a lot about them and they seem to be quite popular in India, so we decided to get an account with them for this list, just to see if they live up to expectations.
But before we get on to the praises/ rants, let’s have a look at the test results first.
BigRock server speed
With a worldwide average of 186 ms, Bigrock is clearly the slowest web host on the list, BUT they’ve got the fastest response times in India! Speed wise, they’re ideal for fast local pings as they’re the only web host on this list with a datacenter in Mumbai.
If you want to attract an international clientele though, BigRock might not be the best choice, with scores of 246 ms from US West, 206 ms from US East, 136 ms from London, 327 ms from Sao Paulo and 305 ms from Sydney.
The only countries we saw doing well outside of India was Singapore at 67 ms and Japan at 138ms.
BigRock customer support
We signed up for BigRock’s starter plan after seeing how popular they are with the locals in India, expecting decent service and ease of use but the experience we went through was… a huge disappointment.
First off, the system didn’t send us the required information to log into our account. No login info, no DNS to set up, absolutely nothing.
So we contacted their livechat for help but they can’t do anything about it without a login, so we were asked to call BigRock’s international support number (at our own cost, mind you) to sort this out.
So we called and followed the automated instructions, patiently pressing the keys we were told to press… then the call dropped.
So we tried again.
And the call dropped. Again.
We tried calling them a grand total of 3 times and the call drops at the exact. Same. Moment.
We consulted the live chat team to see what else can be done.
We asked them if they can transfer us directly to the relevant team – they cannot.
Can they cancel our account – they cannot.
This was quickly becoming the worst encounter we’ve ever experienced with a web host of this caliber.
At 5pm, we sent an email to the address that the livechat team kindly provided, and they replied at 6pm with the information we needed to finally login and set up our test site.
Needless to say, we weren’t too happy about the entire ordeal.
Our thoughts on BigRock
BigRock is cheap, but they really need to buck up. Speed wise, they’re doing okay despite the lack of PHP7 and SSD. They don’t haven’t yet implemented SSL so users might run into trouble in the near future when Chrome updates their system.
They definitely need to provide more features for their users, and their UI needs to be updated – it looks like they designed it in the 90s and fired their designer halfway through.
We can’t provide screenshots because we only managed to access the client area once during sign up – we’ve been locked out of it ever since, and the “forget password” feature just doesn’t work. We’ve tried it numerous times, nothing has ever appeared in our inbox or spam folders.
BigRock in action
After intensive testing and experiencing the pros and cons of each brand, we personally feel that the International web hosts (SiteGround, A2 Hosting, Inmotion and Hostgator Cloud) are your best bet. They are consistently fast with a reputation of being reliable, and their customer support will help you in any way they can.
AVG. SPEED IN INDIA
Bluehost falls right smack in the middle – they’re very well balanced and you’ll get better value if you’re looking to reach US markets. A very good web host for newbie bloggers and affiliate marketers!
However, if price is your priority then BigRock and GoDaddy India will suit your needs just fine, especially if you’re targeting the local Indian demographic. They’ve got very fast local pings, but you’ll be giving up features and helpful customer support.
To us, poor customer support is a deal-breaker, but if that’s not a problem for you, then go right ahead.
That wraps up our top 7 web hosting brands for India!
