For a hosting service with servers scattered throughout the world and the types of plans popular with modern clients, Host1Plus is worth a look. This web host offers reliable, truly scalable and development-friendly options at affordable prices, which makes it a good fit for small- to medium-sized online businesses plus web developers and designers.
Who Is Host1Plus & Why Should You Care?
It seems that everywhere you look these days a new web hosting service is cropping up. While Host1Plus isn’t the youngest out there – being founded in 2009 in London – it is a relative newcomer to the industry.
Host1Plus is truly an international company which services clients throughout the world as well as having support teams in Africa, the Americas and Europe. As such, they accept all forms of payment imaginable, including bitcoin.
If you want to learn more about what they do and what they offer, you can visit any of their social media pages (Facebook, Twitter, Google+), where they are active.
Choice of Server Locations Around The Globe
A stable network and reliable hardware are at the core of Host1Plus’s datacenters. Servers are found in Chicago and Los Angeles, USA, Frankfurt, Germany, Sao Paulo, Brazil, Johannesburg, South Africa and, coming soon, Hong Kong.
A reliable infrastructure with Ceph storage helps to eliminate problems due to hardware failure; the system will restore data automatically and ensure that downtime is minimal. Storage is available 99.9 percent of the time thanks to fault-tolerant distribution and data loss is avoided with multiple data copies.
As far as speed is concerned, we rate Host1Plus a A+ based on the results from our speed checker tool.
What Types of Plan Does Host1Plus Have?
The future focus of Host1Plus seems to be on cloud and VPS plans. In fact, web and reseller hosting plans are no longer available to clients in Lithuania, the Netherlands, Africa, United Kingdom and Chicago, United States due to the prevalence of competition for that market segment. In those locations, only VPS and cloud hosting packages are offered.
In terms of scalability, there are lots of options for a VPS package as far as number of CPU cores, amount of RAM, disk space and bandwidth. Each plan includes full root access, DNS management, rDNS configuration, a Linux OS and geolocated IPs. Plus, you have a choice of datacenter location. Here at Bitctacha, we use the VPS Amber plan using the Brazil server as a node for our speed checker tool.
A nifty feature, as shown above, are the support announcements, which show up on the VPS dashboard. From our experience, support tickets are handled promptly and professionally. We experienced a slight billing glitch but had no downtime due to a prompt response.
Cloud server plans are also available in several different levels with your choice of Linux or Windows OS. These plans are not managed but do offer many of the same features as the VPS plans, along with IPv6 support, API and KVM.
While their cloud and VPS plans used to come with free backups, the company discontinued this service in April of 2017.
